Loyal viewers – I am days away from officially launching my new website. It will be complete with a barrage of news updates, videos, music, new photos, and an altogether amazing new look. Final USC Session Saturday

This Saturday, April 17 (my dad’s birthday) will be my last session with SMPTV. We will have 65 players at Warner Brothers recording studio. I’ve written a cue for a scene from the movie Coraline. All of us are totally excited. I’ve put a LOT of work into my cue and will be stoked to hear it come to life. Check back this weekend to hear/see the final product!

Evenfall Nominated for Student Academy Award

I received news today that an animation I worked on last semester, Evenfall, was selected as a regional finalist for the Academy for Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences 37th Annual Student Academy Awards. The film will be screened on April 26th in Portland at the Northwest Film Center’s Whitsell Auditorium. There a panel of judges will decide which entries will move onto the National Finals in Los Angeles where they will then be voted on by Academy Members. Needless to say this is very exciting news for both me and for the animator Carolyn Chrisman. We likely will be making the trip up to Portland – will post more news as it develops!

New Website in the Works

I’ve found an amazing pair of designers here in LA who have been working with me to create a brand new, ridiculously beautiful website and PR materials. I gotta tell ya, I am really excited – the designers are going above and beyond to make the site top notch. Launch is scheduled for mid April. Will post more details as we get closer.

Gwinna Premieres on the West Coast

Violist Andrew Duckles has programmed Gwinna on two concerts in Los Angeles. He will be joined by harpist Allison Bjorkedal and flutist Boglarka Kiss. I am very thrilled and honored to have my music be played by such such accomplished musicians here in LA. Hope to see you at one of the concerts!

Seasons greetings friends. Forgive my apparent disappearance for the past several months. Fear not, MUCH has happened this first semester at USC. I’ve just posted some new tracks to the film music page. Mentorship with Thomas Newman

Every year the Thornton School of Music offers one on one mentorships with the members of their advisory board. I received word today that I was one of five people in the film scoring program to receive one of these opportunities. My mentor is Thomas Newman, who has long been one of my heroes as I greatly admire his distinct voice and intimate approach to orchestration. For those of you who might not recognize his name, his film credits include WallE, Finding Nemo, The Shawshank Redemption, American Beauty, Angels in America, and many many more. I am completely beside myself with this news and will keep everyone posted with developments.
